Book Review: Knits For Boys by Kate Oates

Knits for Boys: 27 Patterns for Little Men + Grow-With-Me Tips & TricksKnits for Boys: 27 Patterns for Little Men + Grow-With-Me Tips & Tricks by Kate Oates
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an AWESOME book! I was reluctant to buy this book because sometimes pattern-writers (when it comes to boys) just go about it all wrong. They either go so gender-stereotypical that its nauseating, or they try to come up with weird artistic designs that completely ignore the practicalities of having a young boy wear such a garment.

I'm pleased to report this book avoids both of those pitfalls and comes up with some truly beautiful designs for boys! As a mom of several sons, I was beyond excited to see this. The sweaters are ALL gorgeous. Every single one. I also like many of the accessories (like the socks and mittens!).

Overall, this is an excellent find. Even if you just bought the book for the sweater patterns, it would be well worth it. The tips and tricks seem to be very helpful, too; I look forward to employing them as I try out these patterns. I think I'm going to have some very happy (and very warm!) sons in my life! I would highly recommend this to anyone who has sons, grandsons, nephews, godsons, or friends with boys. Because knitting for boys is FUN!
