Owls for the Cure Blanket Square

So, I have this friend.  She is one of the most generous and giving people I know.  After recently losing a friend to cancer and knowing several other people dealing with cancer in their lives, she decided to take her grief and feelings of helplessness and put them into action!

Like me, she has a tiny Harry Potter obsession (its tiny; really!  We do NOT have a problem!) and decided to create a couple of patterns with owls in them to help raise awareness and money for cancer research.  The first pattern is finished and is for a blanket square (it would also make a nifty washcloth if you knit with cotton).  The pattern motif is of an owl wearing an awareness ribbon.  How cool is that?  You can use duplicate stitch to make the ribbon and eyes/ beak really pop (which I did; see photos below) or just leave it plain.

The BEST part about this?  100% of the proceeds go towards cancer research, so you can feel good about buying this pattern!  Please help to spread the word; tweet it, Facebook it, blog about it, and stitch away!  (Purchase on Ravelry, the pattern is called "Owls for the Cure Blanket Square").
